21st June

How slack of me! I downloaded the photos then forgot to post...... tut tut tut
The June group went down well. I was working on Revontuli, a laceweight shawl. Revontuli means Northern Lights. I also took Jane Austen Knits for people to have a look at. Note empty cup of tea, I drank pletny.

More knitting. This time Angela's Cardi

A most beautiful baby bonnet made by Elsie. This bonnet is really something else, so pretty

Two bags sewn by Sarah. I do like this style of bag - it may give my felted bags a reason to retire!

I also took down my spiral doily to show and tell. M is also into doilies - she was doing a very fine crocheted one - another reason for me to persist with crochet!

April Meeting

Today was our April Meeting.  We had a variety of crafts being done.  Sarah was making Bunting for Bradbury House.  She showed me a book on Bunting - how to make bunting, and I was quite inspired.  There was a Christmas one in particular that inspired me.

Sarah has been laying out part of her Bunting

Angela and Doreen, heads together doing lots of knitting and nattering

Doreen has knitted these two delightful Christmas Puds.  A lot of fiddly work has gone into these.

Angela's patchwork bag.  This must be about 35-ish years old - all still in good working order!

Doreen finishing off a cardi for her grand-daughter.  It is a ballet style cardi with a cross-over front

M being very industrious doing some embriodery

And me, knitting my Lydia Crescent Shawl, enjoying a sit down, especially in the sunshine!  Elsie is in the background

The Reading Room, the venue for our Craft and Natter, is bright and airy.  Today I gave out Goodie Bags from the Craft Council, as the group is registered with The Craft Club.  We meet on the third Thursday of each month, (apart from November and December, I need to sort dates out as the room is already booked in November, but will let you know what's happening in due course).  Please feel free to come down and join us for an hour or two, you'll be more than welcome!

The First Post

Hello and Welcome!

This blog is going to be all about Craft and Natter in Beckermet.  This is a craft group, we also natter, and we are in Beckermet.  We also drink lots of tea!

The group was set up by myself and my Mum, Angela.  The group is still in it's infancy.  We have met twice now.  The group is open to anyone of any age.  You can bring along any craft - as long as it's portable.  A lot of us knit or crochet.  Each meet is £2, this includes refreshments.  We are also registered with Craft Club.  We meet every third Thursday of the month.

The group has strong links with The WI - The Womens Institute, particularly Beckermet WI.  Don't let this put you off!  The WI does go beyond Jam and Jerusalem and The Calendar Girls!  Saying that though, I am partial to jam, tea & cake and Afternoon Teas!

The aim of this blog is to obviously promote the group, but also to show case what we are making and crafting, and to let you and the world, know who we are and what we are up to!

Beckermet is a village in West Cumbria, England.  I'm sure we will tell you about the village and surrounding area as time goes on!  I also have another blog - Carpedyems Microcosm, so you may know me from there or from Ravelry as CarpeDyem.

See you soon and Keep Crafting
